Full Moon of Not?

Yesterday I went out early as usual to let the dogs out. I noticed a beautiful full moon illuminating the backyard. About 30 minutes later I went to let the dogs out again and I noticed the moon looked strange. I thought "What in the world? Has NASA gone and done something stupid or is it black magic...?" When suddenly out of the back door I hear Jamie call out, "Mom, there is a full lunar eclipse right now!" So my wild imagination was put to rest, and amazing it was to watch. You could see the moon getting covered right before your eyes. I find space and the moon quite fascinating. Here are some pictures we captured of the event.

It looks like a moon pie

These were taken over about a 30 minute time span.

A Surprise Visit!

Last Sunday was Daddy's birthday!!! Aunt Shirley and Uncle Burt surprised him by flying in and just showing up at the door. I don't think he could have loved anything more!! We all celebrated by going to Applebee's for dinner Saturday night. The waiter was a comedy show by himself with the drink orders and Daddy loved the personal birthday wish sung to him by the staff. All in all it was fun! Then on Sunday we all sang again and enjoyed an ice cream cake!! It was so nice to see Aunt Shirley and Uncle Burt again! And ...Happy Birthday to Daddy with wishes for many more!!

This is where the celebrating started.

The birthday boy!

After enjoying the birthday singing Daddy got his own birthday sundae!

The next day we celebrated again with ice cream cake. I guess it was an ice cream kind of birthday!

Mom and Aunt Shirley served the cake to all the waiting people...

They were patient I will have to say :-)

Everybody was there except the Scott family...

Rachel loved the blue icing!

Natural Bug Out

It is the most interesting thing to watch...for about 2 weeks now this spider has been coming every night and making its own midnight buffet. Then in the morning it very carefully and neatly takes down its dinner table (which I am very thankful for...there is nothing more unnerving than to walk through a spider's web and then wonder...where is the spider????) Strand by strand the spider detaches the web and then stays in the Crepe Myrtle tree all day. It then comes back at night and builds another. It will be sad when the night comes, that I go out and don't see my natural pest controller anymore. Nature is a very interesting thing to watch.

At night...

50th Anniversary Celebration!

Last night marked 50 years of marriage for my parents. We celebrated with family and honored them for being such an inspiration to all of our marriages. Not many make it to the golden years of marriage for it takes work and dedication. When asked their secret on how to make it Daddy said, " You have to pick the right woman!" O.K. well we all know the guys did that :-) Mom said, " Each person has to put the other person's feelings before their own." Sounds easy! But actually it is quite an accomplishment for anyone to make a marriage work. They have made it look so easy and have been an awesome example for all of us. So... here are pictures from the night of Golden Memories...

The table was set...
