Full Moon of Not?

Yesterday I went out early as usual to let the dogs out. I noticed a beautiful full moon illuminating the backyard. About 30 minutes later I went to let the dogs out again and I noticed the moon looked strange. I thought "What in the world? Has NASA gone and done something stupid or is it black magic...?" When suddenly out of the back door I hear Jamie call out, "Mom, there is a full lunar eclipse right now!" So my wild imagination was put to rest, and amazing it was to watch. You could see the moon getting covered right before your eyes. I find space and the moon quite fascinating. Here are some pictures we captured of the event.

It looks like a moon pie

These were taken over about a 30 minute time span.

OMG! That is so cool. Isn't that where the Earth's shadow cover's the moon? We only have those like once every... I have no idea what I am talking about but that is really neat. It's cool that you got to capture it!

I was happy the turned out. I shot them free handed without a tripod. They usually are a blurry mess when you do that. And yes, the shadow of the earth covers the moon...cool stuff!
